As we have previously mentioned, This year's Big Coffee Break is the first that NI Hospice has organised in association with local coffee company, Bailies Coffee, who have supplied more than 1,500 bags of coffee to more than 350 coffee hosts. We estimate this to mean around 45,000 cups of Bailies Coffee will be served around the country for these events!
It all kicked off yesterday with Bailies staff attending some of the events to help out and join in the great atmosphere. These events are helping to raise funds for equipment in the new dementia-friendly Hospice set to open in Spring 2016. We toured around to take some pictures of everyone's superb efforts, travelling first to ACA Models run by Alison Clarke on the Beersbridge Road. We snapped the bold and the beautiful at the ACA headquarters in East Belfast, where Miss NI and former Miss NIs (plural) turned out to show support. Also helping promote the cause were U105 radio station who interviewed Alison, and our very own Julia McKenna. Below are some pics from the day.
We also travelled to H&J Martin / Lagan Construction offices where the Mayor of Belfast Arder Carson made an appearance. Later in the day we dropped in to the Errigle Inn on Ormeau Road and sampled some seriously tasty baked goods that were on offer for the Big Coffee Break event there. Beware the images below contain huge amounts of sugar and may not be safe for diabetics....
A special mention has to go out to the Bailies Staff who helped on the day, from the guys in the warehouse preparing all the coffee and equipment for events, to the baristas who were out making delicious coffees for a worthy cause. These two below seemed to be having a good time anyway.
